MISS GIBRALTAR 2009 Kaiane Aldorino, in a rare occurance, bagged the coveted beauty title, Miss World 2009 in the gala event held in Johannesburg, South Africa this year. The Miss World 2009 winner Kaiane Aldorino had also won the swimsuit round earlier in the pageant.

While Kaiane Aldorino took the Miss World 2009 sash and crown in a white lace evening gown, Miss Mexico, Perla Beltran Acosta, was the first runner up and Miss South Africa, Tatum Keshwar, a hot favourite for the global pageant, took the second runner up position.
When she was quipped about her plans after winning the crown, Miss Gibraltar Kaiane Aldorino said, "I will try to do the best that I can now that I have opportunity and advantage."

Indian entry to the Miss World 2009 pageant, Pooja Chopra, was able to come up to the semi final round, in the final sixteen contestants, on the basis of her beauty with purpose project of saving the girl child. However, she failed to make it into the final seven of the Miss World 2009.

On the other hand, another Indian beauty graced the occasion. Former Miss World winner and now Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra, graced the Miss World 2009 event as a judge.

She is 23 years old, born on July 8, 1986, and worked as a human resources clerk before taking the title of Miss Gibraltar 2009. She was crowned Miss Gibraltar on June 27, 2009 at the Alameda Open Air Theatre, and went on to be the first Gibraltarian contestant to have won Miss World. The competition was held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday December 12, 2009. Her exotic, dark looks complemented the white-lace evening gown she wore as she was announced the winner. She had the signature priceless look on her face as she won, and seemed to be very happy and taken aback by the win.

The brown-eyed Kaiane Aldorino is just 22 years old and her star sign is Cancer. She is fluent in Spanish and English. She is an out-going person who enjoys traveling with her friends and family.

During her reign as the Miss World 2009, Kaiane Aldorino will be busy for the next one year traveling and doing social work in different countries. She will also crown the winner of the Miss World 2010 pageant, which is supposed to take place in Vietnam.

She loves her home country Gibraltar for its safe environment and natural beauty. However she also detests something about her home country and that is the lack of affordable housing and the lousy traffic.
