Give Your Children a Gift that They'll Always Remember!

Does your little one have a birthday coming up? Do you want to do something different, unique, memorable for his or her special day? Here are some ideas for babies, toddlers, tweens, teens and beyond!

Babies

Babies LOVE to look at pictures of other babies. Why not make a book, either by hand or online on a photo storage website such as Snapfish or Shutterfly. You can also make it as a scrapbook by hand. Make a book for baby out of her pictures each month during the last year of her life. This will not only be a unique gift for baby but it will also be a keepsake that you can keep long after her birthday. Adding text below each picture can make it a book you can read to your son or daughter as well. Under each picture, write a short caption about what she is doing or what's in the picture. You can add the number representing the month to practice counting or the first letter of the month to practice letters. Make a great gift for baby and a learning tool as well!

Toddlers

Toddlers & young school age kids love the outdoors and everything that comes along with them! They love to look at different flowers, trees, bugs and especially love dirt! Why not celebrate your little one's upcoming birthday by doing something outdoors and help the environment at the same time. Plant a tree or plant in your yard for your child to nourish. It can me something that your child can care for all year long. Each year after that, take a picture next to the tree or plant and compare your child's growth to the plant or tree's growth. Not only will it help the environment but it can also serve as mini job for your son or daughter, teaching him responsibility and how to care for something. This can serve as a precursor for a child that wants a pet.

If you don't have room for a tree or large plant, plant an herb garden or a small fruit or vegetable plant. Children love to see things flourish and change. Seeing a plant grow that they can eventually turn into food for the family will be a concept that is new to them and provide countless teachable moments for mom and dad.
