Berkley Bionics introduces the eLEGS
eLEGS is a wearable, artificially intelligent, bionic device that enables people with paralysis
to stand up and walk again. The exoskeleton is battery-powered and rechargeable, fitting
comfortably and securely over your clothing. Initially, eLEGS will be used under medical supervision
for rehabilitation and training. Our mission is to provide you with unprecedented mobility. We want to
enhance your independence and freedom of movement.
How does eLEGS work?
eLEGS uses a gesture-based human-machine interface which — utilizing sensors — observes the
gestures you make to determine your intentions and then acts accordingly. In order for eLEGS to
operate naturally and respond to your input, a real-time computer draws on sensors and input devices
to orchestrate every aspect of a single stride.
