Gay Relations still unaccepted in India
How and what alike does present day India seem to a globetrotter? He lands in a different place if he would have imagined India as a land where men are rough and tough and women are delicate pieces made up of love and trust. We as Indians do not feel that we have undergone many drastic changes but let us talk of a present day common man. He flaunts his western outlook, believes in short lived and live-in relations, rushed affairs and forms peer groups showing his reluctance to mix with everyone. At his candid best, he has courage to face the whole world and wants to achieve success even at cost of oppressing someone's feelings without even a sigh of discomfort. So it will be wrong if we still say that India is a land where people can die to keep their promises and words and they live for others.
Indian woman has reached space conquered every battle of life and smashed down this male dominant Indian society. Basking in this new found success, she is ready to snatch each and every opportunity in life and grab it with open hands. Now she is not led by sentiments but with inner outrage and competition for men. Truly, she is contiguous to what man used to be at early stages. On its contrary, today's Indian man is delicate, suave and feels insecure to face the crowd. He is revisiting his mistakes and is ready to compromise and apologize for what he has done for hundreds of years in this male dominant society.
So, again a question arises that- Is today's man a man anymore? Though the transformation is not physical, he's completely changed from within. He wants to be flawless, exotic in appearance and thus allure everyone towards him. He experiments with everything-tries cosmetics, wears accessories and even wants to experience the pain of becoming a mother. So, we can now come to a conclusion that today's man and woman have interwoven characteristics where it is really hard now to separately list them.
In this world full of cynicism, we hardly find someone who loves us truly. If at any instant of life we feel that we have found our beloved, does his class, sex or appearance really matter? I was always told that love is a warm affection linking two souls; wholehearted liking for beloved and finally sexual passion for it is the essence of our life. Chapter XVI, Section 377(Anti-Sodomy law) penalizes same sex behavior irrespective of age and consent of people involved. This law was drafted in 1861 and after almost 150 years, why doesn't our constitutional govt. start afresh to think on this issue as per present day scenario. India, though a republic is full of bloody orthodox people still sticking to their closets which they've created years long back.
Gays do not come from a different world. They are born amongst us and are a part of our society. No one can claim about their sexuality so perfectly and if homosexual guys can accept straight-sex so easily what problem do we straight guys have with gays. For Indian people, it is a new tale for gossip after year long debates of someone's bedroom explorations. In Indian comedy serials also, gay jokes are common tricks to make people giggle revealing the unacceptability of the issue. As a consequence, gays hesitate to reveal their identity for they don't want to hurt anyone by announcing their sexuality publicly. And homosexuality still remains a taboo in the entire Indian subcontinent.
