Designing for your office

Thinking about designing your office is one of the tedious jobs that one has to do .But a perfectly designed office could be a catalyst which may increase your business by impressing your clients.

One of the most important parts while designing your office is glass doors. Usually sliding type glass doors are used in most offices these days. Basically sliding door is a large glass window opening in a wall or structure that provides door access from a room for the outdoors, fresh air, and natural light opening. A sliding glass door is usually considered a single unit consisting of two panel sections, one being fixed and one a being mobile to slide open. Now there is another design, called as wall sized glass which has one or more panels movable and sliding into wall pockets, completely disappearing for a wide open indoor-outdoor room experience.

Now let us see some usual types of sliding glass doors in little detail

Traditional sliding doors

Speaking of traditional sliding doors, they have two panel sections, a fixed-stationary and the other mobile to slide open. The actual sliding door is a freely moving rectangular framed sheet of window glass that is mounted parallel to a similar and often fixed similarly framed neighboring glass partition. Now the movable panel slides in a fixed track usually, and in its own plane parallel to the neighboring stationary panel.

Disappearing

Next type of sliding doors design, are glass pocket doors which has all the glass panels sliding completely into open-wall pockets, totally disappearing for a wall-less wide open indoor-outdoor room experience. This includes corner window walls, for even more blurring of the inside-outside open space distinction. Here with the use of remote controls two story versions are often electronically opened.  The opening point is centered for the purpose of wide expansion; and three to six parallel tracks are used to carry the six to twelve sliding doors into the wall pockets on each side.

Trackless & disappearing

Now we come under the category of trackless and disappearing, as the name suggest it contains features of both the above types. This is a third one in the sliding doors design that has all the glass panels suspended from above, leaving a trackless and uninterrupted floor plane. They also do disappear into side pockets. Their specialty is that on final closure they slightly drop down to create a weatherproof seal.

Typical places where one can find sliding glass doors are residences, hotel rooms, condominiums, offices, etc. Sliding glass doors are popular in places like southern Europe, Uk , US ,etc . In addition sliding glass doors could be used as commercial interior office doors or even in as an interior door for your own home.
