When we buy window treatments for sliding glass doors, we normally think about how it can beautify our house or help keep the sunlight from entering our the rooms. But there are certain window treatments that are more beneficial than you think.

Often we fret about the sunlight because it goes right through the business glass doors. When this happens, the light sometimes makes the room warmer. That is usually okay but during summer the last thing you want is a house that is warmer than the temperature outside. Believe it or not, there are window treatments that could help keep your home cool even if it is hot out.

Curious to know which window treatments I am talking about? It includes vertical blinds, curtains, drapes, cellular shades, valances and cornice. Let’s take a closer look at each of these window treatments in more detail.

Vertical Blinds

This type of blinds can be easily identified for its vertical slats. A round cylinder controller is often used to control the opening of the slats. Because of this controller, anyone can have an easy time adjusting vertical blinds. Simply turn the convex controller and you can open or close it at an instant. Vertical blinds come in various materials such as vinyl, cloth, paper, bamboo and wood.

If you want to have a rustic theme in your bedroom, go for wooden vertical blinds. For company glass doors, fabric vertical blinds are recommended. Fabric vertical blinds usually use a metal rod at the bottom to weigh down the blinds. What’s great about choosing vinyl is that it allows more light to pass through, illuminating the dark areas completely.

Cellular Shades

Cellular shades are often made of paper.  They usually take the form of a honeycomb and is often used for custom glass interior doors. Fabrics may also be used in manufacturing cellular shades. Some companies specializing on custom privacy curtain panels even offer cellular shades with reflective sides. This feature retracts daylight and removes the heat from the room. Because it is extremely fragile, window treatments of this variety aren’t advisable if you have pets or young children.

Curtains

Curtains are one of the most common window treatments used today. You can buy them in wide spectrum of colors, designs and patterns. When buying curtains, be sure to choose ones that compliments your house decors. If you want to save money, consider doing it yourself than buying pre-made ones.

Cornice

This window treatment is basically a padded box shape covered in fabric. Its bottom edge can be configured in many different designs and shapes. They are typically installed just above the window and can hide other mounting hardware.

These are just a few of the many different types of window treatments available in the market. Companies are constantly thinking of innovations and new versions of the traditional window treatments. Try looking at some interior design magazines and online galleries to know which ones are right for you. It may be overwhelming at first but by studying the pros and cons of each window treatments mentioned above, choosing the ideal window treatment will be a breeze.
