We took several courses on how to potty train a child. All of the participants were successful practically except us. May be we didn’t take it seriously. But when Joshua peed over my beach bag I became more conscious. But all the techniques left us in a terrific situation. Sometimes he said ‘where did it gone? I want them back again’.

Sometimes he stopped doing toilet if we didn’t allow him to wear diaper. However, we were visiting a friend’s house that has a pet dog. Joshua was watching it very carefully; he became surprised when the dog does the toilet in a potty. He watched it and wanted the dog to do it again. And finally he was feeling encouraged to do it just like the “doggy”. Though we were tensed of having affected by germs but nothing happened like that, thank God. So, dog can not only be the trusted friend, it can be a good teacher also.

But at the beginning sometimes he forgot to use the potty and his pants became dirty. To make him more conscious we told him that only big boys who keep their underwear clean are allowed to wear nice pants. And then whenever he pooped in his underwear that day we put him in a diaper and made comments like "I'm sorry you decided to be a baby and wear diaper."
