Maria Yuryevna Sharapova, Russian tennis player, born in 1987, started her professional career in 2001. She immigrated to USA at the age of seven for better training. She took training in The Nick Bollettieri tennis academy from where famous tennis players like Pete Sampras and and Martina Hingis have come out.

She perticipated in under 16 Eddie Herr Championships, in 2000.  She started her professional career in 2001. In 2007, she lost her number one ranking as she dropped many matches because of right shoulder injury.
