Popular 3D puzzle the Rubik's Cube is marking its 30th anniversary with events taking place around the world.

Designed by Erno Rubik, a Hungarian professor of architecture, it has endured despite the rise of sophisticated video game technology, with many challenging themselves not just to solve the puzzle, but to complete it in record time.
